I do not consider myself a designer, but I do appreciate the minimalist approach to design. This site is responsive without media queries, it is functional, and has a clean aesthetic. No loading spinners. It communicates the info needed and it reflects me as a developer well. Maybe someday I will create a portfolio website with the latest javascript graphics library, but for now, I like this.
